Bungie's Marathon Director Killed One Claim in a Much Longer Leak

One leak might be false but there are a bunch of them.
"As someone who's worked on both Destiny and Marathon, I can confirm that the 'leak' about us merging the two IPs is fake. They share a lot of the same Bungie DNA, but like siblings they're also their own independent entities. Please don't believe everything you read online."
Bungie's principal community manager supported the post.
Where it came from
An anonymous 4chan post, shared also on Marathon and Destiny subreddits, with no evidence attached and no identified source.
The merger claim was framed "There has been some vague testing the waters internally to rework Marathon and Destiny into a single IP with Marathon representing the beginning of Mankind's Golden Age and to foreshadow more threats to be used in a future Destiny project."
It also alleged a free-to-play switch at the end of the year, a brand new six-player PvE mode called Investigations, also a faction-based PvP experiment called Risk Management, a Runner shell named Shrike, Flash Drives that alter builds, and Destiny-themed cosmetics.
Why it travelled
Some of the claims are in line with Bungie's posts.
The Symbiosis update on 8 December will add Marathon's first permanent PvE experience, a new Runner shell, a refreshed Perimeter, a social space with a firing range, and an experimental Team Deathmatch mode, seems pretty accurate.
However, Free-to-play isn't in the Symbiosis post.
The unaddressed part
Nardin addressed the merger and nothing else.
Optimists note she didn't deny free-to-play. There is a chance after all.
Either way, Bungie hasn't announced dropping the purchase price, and a December free-to-play switch has no more support now than it did before.
Context
Destiny 2's final expansion has shipped, with Bungie confirming it as the last content update. Whether a third Destiny is in development remains contested, with a separate leaker claiming it is.
