The League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) has revamped its format for the 2025 season. The new structure includes a single season divided into five rounds and the introduction of the LCK CUP.
Key Changes:
LCK CUP:
Runs from January to February. Features two groups selected by the 2024 Summer finalists, Gen.G and Hanwha Life Esports, followed by play-ins and playoffs. The winner qualifies for a new global event in March, where top seeds from regional leagues compete using a fearless draft format. Regular Season:
Begins in April, with LCK CUP results not affecting placements. The first two rounds (April and May) use a single round-robin, best-of-three format to create a league table. Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) Qualifiers:
In June, the top six teams from the first two rounds enter a semi-double elimination bracket to qualify for MSI. Rounds Three to Five:
Teams are divided into two groups: Legend (top five teams) and Rise (bottom five teams). Each group plays a best-of-three, single round-robin. The top four from Legend advance to playoffs, while the fifth place and top three from Rise enter a play-in bracket. Play-ins and Playoffs:
Play-ins are a best-of-five, double-elimination bracket allowing two teams to qualify for playoffs. Playoffs also use a best-of-five, double-elimination format to determine the champions.
