Former VALORANT and Counter-Strike professional player Óscar ‘mixwell’ Cañellas has launched his own esports organisation, Otakar Esports.
The new team aims to enter the VALORANT scene with a focus on promoting Spanish players to the highest levels of competition. Cañellas unveiled the organisation during Red Bull Home Ground, a VALORANT OFF//SEASON tournament hosted by the energy drink brand. In his announcement, he expressed his goal of “having a Spanish team that starts from the very bottom.”
Mixwell highlighted the lack of Spanish players in the VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT) as a key issue he intends to address, with the aim of nurturing the Spanish scene and helping players develop. He also mentioned there are no immediate plans to expand into other esports titles.

Mixwell will serve as the organisation’s Chief Executive Officer and announced on X (formerly Twitter) that the team is actively recruiting coaching staff.
The creation of Otakar Esports is a collaboration with Red Bull, with Mixwell hinting at a partnership that will feature the brand on the team’s official jerseys during a stream discussing the launch.
A former Counter-Strike competitor with teams like OpTic Gaming and Cloud9, Mixwell became a well-known figure in VALORANT during his time with G2 Esports and Team Heretics. After retiring in 2023, he stayed connected to Heretics in a streaming and content creation role. He departed from the organisation in September 2024 following the expiration of his contract, citing a misalignment between his future projects and his ongoing association with Heretics.
