With Battlefield 6 set to launch on October 10, EA and Battlefield Studios are already looking beyond the initial rollout, hinting at ambitious content updates to follow. In a pre-launch community update shared on social media this week, the developers offered a glimpse at what’s coming in the months ahead—and one particular tease is generating waves of speculation.
Among notes addressing launch changes and player feedback, the studio subtly referenced several popular community requests. “...requests for naval warfare have not gone unnoticed, nor have the calls for a certain fan-favorite little helicopter, platoons, and more,” the update reads. The comment was brief but notable, sparking discussion among fans eager for the return of large-scale sea battles.
Return to the Water?
Though not explicitly confirmed, the mention of naval warfare strongly suggests that the feature is on the studio’s radar for post-launch development. The Battlefield franchise hasn’t prominently featured naval combat since Battlefield 1, making its potential return a major shift—and one that could redefine the series’ sandbox warfare in Battlefield 6.
The developers further added that Battlefield 6 will offer “more content” than any previous Battlefield title, signaling a long-term roadmap filled with new mechanics, modes, and features.
Battle Royale and Season 1 Incoming
In the near term, players can expect a robust rollout when the game officially launches. On October 28, just weeks after launch, Battlefield 6’s free-to-play Battle Royale mode is set to debut alongside the game’s first season.
Season 1 will introduce:
New multiplayer maps
A fresh selection of weapons
In-game events
Additional live-service content
These additions aim to kickstart a live-service ecosystem designed to keep the player base engaged well into the future.
