Nvidia's Gamescom Slate Lands With DLSS 5 Still Under Fire

Nvidia is performing great at stock market but there is some backlash.
DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction went live through the Nvidia app for all GeForce RTX GPUs, though it's early access for now with the final release scheduled for September.
The technology folds denoising (hope I wrote it correctly) and Super Resolution into a single second-generation transformer model, replacing traditional denoisers with a network trained on Nvidia's supercomputers. Thirty games are supported at launch, including Cyberpunk 2077, Alan Wake 2 and Black Ops 7. DLSS Override lets you enable it in supported games without a patch.
The same update will bring per-game Resizable BAR controls, G-SYNC Pulsar settings moved off the monitor's OSD, and Borderless Windowed support.

The backlash Huang won't concede
DLSS 5, announced days earlier, has drawn criticism for applying AI sheen to character models at the cost of artistic control.
Huang's answer was, critics are "completely wrong." His argues that DLSS 5 "fuses controllability of the geometry and textures and everything about the game with generative AI" while leaving "direct control" with the developer.
Publishers backing it include Bethesda, Capcom, NetEase, NCSoft, Tencent, Ubisoft and Warner Bros Games, which is the heavyweights of the market.
RTX Spark
The Windows platform combining DLSS and Reflex with on-device AI agents arrives this autumn.
EA, Embark and Ubisoft will bring titles including EA Sports F1 25, Apex Legends and ARC Raiders, joining Krafton, NetEase, Riot and Xbox from Computex in May. Accoridng to release, Nvidia has worked with EA on native Javelin anti-cheat support.
Gears of War: E-Day
Launching 6 October with RTX Mega Geometry, letting Unreal Engine 5's Nanite render at full detail in ray tracing for the first time.
Nvidia calls it six years of R&D, and says the technique is being adopted into Microsoft's DirectX Raytracing 2.0 standard.
Dates worth noting
- 007 First Light adds path tracing and Ray Reconstruction on 15 September
- Control Resonant gets path tracing and DLSS 4.5 on 24 September, not at launch
- Gears of War: E-Day on 6 October
Eight further titles get DLSS 4.5 or ray-tracing support, including Aion 2, Black State and Ananta.
RTX Remix and GeForce Now
Remix picks up DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction and Multi Frame Generation, plus a Painkiller RTX update remastering the first 15 levels and a newly revealed Morrowind RTX mod covering Seyda Neen and Balmora.
GeForce Now will also add GOG single sign-on and Firefox support, both live. DLSS 4.5 is now available across hundreds of streamed games, with user-facing controls for Super Resolution, Dynamic Frame Generation and Ray Reconstruction, which hands players part of the remote machine's rendering configuration rather than just resolution and bitrate.
Steam Machine, Steam Controller and 4K Fire TV Stick support will arrive later this year, with direct membership purchases planned for autumn. Day-one streaming covers Control Resonant and Gears of War: E-Day.
