Opera GX has teamed up with the popular geography-based game GeoGuessr, becoming the official browser for the 2025 GeoGuessr World Championship. As part of the partnership, Opera GX will power the entire competition, offering players its GX Control feature—which enhances performance by optimizing resource usage during gameplay.

The collaboration also includes the launch of a custom Opera GX avatar within GeoGuessr. All proceeds from the avatar's sales will go directly toward the event’s prize pool, which this year starts at $100k.

“Our partnership with Geoguessr’s World Championship is a natural fit,” said Maciej Kocemba, Product Director at Opera GX. “GX offers the customisation, control, and browsing features that match the way players engage with games and gaming culture. We are excited to see how this year’s competition plays out.”
