Microsoft has emerged as a major force on PlayStation, with six of the ten best-selling games from April 6 to July 5, 2025, published by the company. This data, shared by Mat Piscatella, Executive Director and video game analyst at Circana, reveals Microsoft's growing influence on platforms traditionally dominated by Sony.
The rankings, based on dollar sales (including both physical and digital from participating publishers), show Microsoft's dominance, with titles such as Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Minecraft, Doom: The Dark Ages, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion: Remastered, and Forza Horizon 5 claiming spots on the leaderboard. These games secured the ninth, eighth, sixth, fifth, third, and second positions on PlayStation, respectively.
Interestingly, the only game preventing a Microsoft clean sweep at the top was Bandai Namco’s Elden Ring: Nightreign, which took the top spot on the PlayStation sales chart.

Microsoft's Stronghold on PlayStation
The strong performance of Microsoft’s games on PlayStation suggests the company is successfully appealing to a broader audience, expanding beyond its Xbox-exclusive titles. Minecraft, a game known for its cross-platform accessibility, was among the top sellers, while Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Doom: The Dark Ages continued to dominate with loyal fanbases.
Top Sales on Xbox and Nintendo Platforms
While Microsoft thrived on PlayStation, its success on Xbox remains consistent. On the Xbox platform, Microsoft also published four of the top ten best-selling games. However, it faces stiff competition from Take-Two, which placed three titles from its popular 2K25 sports series in the top ten. These included WWE 2K25, NBA 2K25, and PGA Tour 2K25. Despite this, Elden Ring: Nightreign retained the title of the overall best-seller on Xbox, continuing its success across multiple platforms.
Nintendo's Performance
Meanwhile, Nintendo's new flagship title, Mario Kart World, launched alongside the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 last month, and quickly rose to the top of the best-seller list for Nintendo platforms. In fact, Nintendo secured seven of the top ten positions on its own chart. However, Cyberpunk 2077, Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma, and Hogwarts Legacy from other publishers still managed to secure spots in the top ten.
