North American esports organization Sentinels has announced a temporary halt to its Marvel Rivals operations following a challenging year marked by inconsistent results.
In a statement shared with fans and followers, Sentinels confirmed that they would be stepping back from the game for the time being. The decision follows their failure to secure a spot in the highly anticipated Ignite Grand Finals at DreamHack Atlanta, a key event in the competitive Marvel Rivals calendar.
"Today we are announcing that we will be pausing our operations in Marvel Rivals," the organization said in their statement. "We couldn’t be prouder of what we accomplished in the last year. Together, we built something special, leaving our mark on the early history of the game. If and when NetEase roll out a program with team incentives, we would revisit the decision."
The announcement also revealed that Sentinels would be parting ways with its Marvel Rivals roster. As a result, several players are now actively seeking new opportunities within the competitive scene. Among them is Chassidy ‘aramori‘ Kaye, who expressed disappointment over the decision but also shared an understanding of the situation.
“My heart breaks with Sentinels’ decision to leave Marvel Rivals Esports,” Kaye said. “But truthfully, I can’t blame them. The scene is essentially a money sink until any sort of monetary incentive is added for teams. Hopefully, NetEase will drop some new info soon.”
The pause marks a significant moment for Marvel Rivals esports, which is still in its early stages of competitive development. Despite their exit, Sentinels’ contribution to the scene has not gone unnoticed. The organization leaves behind a legacy of innovation and community-building, having made an impact in the early competitive landscape of the game.
