Copenhagen-based developer BetaDwarf has secured a significant investment from Japanese gaming giant Square Enix, a move aimed at accelerating the production of its upcoming title Vaultbreakers and expanding the studio’s development capabilities.

While the financial terms of the deal remain undisclosed, the investment marks a major milestone for BetaDwarf as it pushes forward with its latest project. In addition to fueling Vaultbreakers’ development, the funding will enhance the studio’s production capacity and support its ongoing commitment to community-driven development.

"Square Enix is always looking for high-quality games and talented development studios," said Hideaki Uehara, general manager of business development at Square Enix. "After visiting BetaDwarf and learning about the team's mission and passion, we decided to invest in them to help realise their dream and bring this game to players around the world."

BetaDwarf CEO Steffen Kabbelgaard expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting the value it brings at a critical point in the development cycle. “Being accompanied by Square Enix on our journey is an amazing access to a combination of knowledge, talent, and resources,” he said. “Getting this additional support feels amazing when we are far into production already. I can really see how this enables a home run vs having just started on an uncertain journey.”
