A Rocky Start
The journey to the top was anything but smooth for Team Falcons. The tournament kicked off with The Road to The International from September 4–7, debuting a Swiss-system format for the Group Stage—a departure from the traditional round-robin approach.
Despite high expectations, Team Falcons struggled early, finishing seventh in the Group Stage after critical losses to Team Tidebound and Xtreme Gaming. With their tournament hopes hanging by a thread, they managed to turn the tide by eliminating Team Spirit in a convincing 2-0 series, securing a place in the Playoffs.
Dominance in the Playoffs
The main event, held from September 11–14, showcased a resurgent Team Falcons. They exacted revenge on Team Tidebound with a clean 2-0 sweep in the Quarter-finals. That momentum carried forward into the Semi-finals, where they edged out BB Team in a closely contested 2-1 series.
Facing off against PARAVISION in the Upper Bracket Final, Falcons clinched a 2-1 victory to punch their ticket to the Grand Finals. Meanwhile, Xtreme Gaming battled their way through the Lower Bracket, showing resilience and grit to set up the climactic showdown.
A Grand Final for the Ages
In a Best-of-Five Grand Final that delivered on every level, both teams traded wins in a back-and-forth series that had fans on the edge of their seats. Ultimately, it was Team Falcons who proved their mettle, edging out the Chinese squad 3-2 to lift the Aegis of Champions for the first time in the organisation’s history.
Team Falcons, one of the eight directly invited teams, now joins the pantheon of Dota 2 champions, their name etched into the legacy of The International. The 2025 edition will be remembered not only for its competitive intensity, but also for the rise of new challengers and the evolution of the game’s premier tournament format.
