Twitch Gives Green Light to StarLadder Budapest Streams

Twitch has confirmed that streamers are allowed to co-stream the upcoming StarLadder Budapest CS2 Major without worrying about getting in trouble. This announcement comes just before the event begins and helps clear up confusion that had been spreading through the Counter-Strike community.

The concern started when StarLadder revealed that Rollbit would be the main betting sponsor for the Major, which runs from November 24 to December 14. Rollbit is on Twitch’s list of banned gambling sites, so many creators were afraid that showing the broadcast, which includes Rollbit logos, might lead to instant bans. Some believed that even showing the logo on screen could break Twitch’s rules.

Twitch spoke with Dexerto and explained that this will not be a problem. The company said that the event does not violate any of their policies.

“While the StarLadder CS Major will be streamed on Twitch, the Rollbit event sponsorship does not violate our Community Guidelines or Terms of Service, as the event and sponsor have agreed to limit the sponsorship during the stream to physical branding only,” the platform stated.

Twitch also pointed out what their rules actually forbid. According to their guidelines, creators cannot share links or codes to gambling sites that offer slots, roulette, or dice games. They also cannot stream content from those sites, show banners that link to them, or talk about the websites on stream.

“While Rollbit is a prohibited site, that prohibition is specifically for streaming content directly from that site, linking to the site in chat, including a banner in stream that links to the site or verbally referring to the website on stream. As such, the sole use of physical branding does not violate these terms,” Twitch said.

With this clarification, streamers now know they can safely co-stream the Major as long as they follow the rules.
