Saber's Matthew Karch's response to Stella Sacco, Tim Willits didn't distance the company from it.
"That's just Matt's sarcasm, that's all."
Then the framing"The important thing is that we've never replaced anybody with AI. That's crazy. And we don't use generative AI in Space Marine, and Hellraiser, and Stuntman, and everything."
He told separately: "We will never fire someone and replace them with AI."
The Steam page for Rideshare Stimulator has an AI disclosure, added after the controversy that happened.
Willits explained the reasoning the mode wants to reference current events, "we use AI to generate that because we want to do it so fast," with weekly or biweekly updates planned.
So the human-written claim covers the campaign and AI voice is for the passengers, Free Ride missions and part of the soundtrack.
Willits stated "We don't actually use it on our projects except for our experiment with Rideshare. We don't have an official policy, we don't use it outright across all our projects."
Saber works heavily in licensed IP, Space Marine 3, Knights of the Old Republic, a John Wick game, Jurassic Park Survival, and brand guidelines plus copyright uncertainty around generated content is a bit dubious in these titles.
He framed it as "Some developer, some video game company will come up with such a brilliant idea that everybody will look at that idea and be like, that's it, oh my God, that's how you use AI, because we don't know. I mean, you don't know how to use AI, I don't know, you know?"
He expects bigger games built around AI by next Gamescom.
