Wolves Esports, the competitive gaming arm of Wolverhampton Wanderers and a subsidiary of Fosun Sports, is set to expand its footprint in China with the construction of a state-of-the-art esports facility in Chongqing. The project comes as part of a strategic partnership with Chongqing Lvfazhiye Group Co., Ltd. (Lvfa Group), marking a significant milestone in the club’s growth in the region.
The partnership includes a 200 million RMB investment (approximately £20.7 million), which will not only fund the development of the new venue but also contribute to a broader effort to enhance Wolves Esports’ infrastructure, team performance, brand influence, and commercial reach.
The new arena is currently under development in Chongqing’s Bishan district and is slated to open by the end of 2025. Once completed, it will cover around 10,000 square meters and accommodate up to 2,000 spectators, making it one of the largest dedicated esports venues in the region.

Wolves Esports has steadily built its presence in China over recent years. The organization has already established a 1,500-square-meter facility to support its players and staff, and it has maintained a dedicated home venue in Chongqing for its Honor of Kings division since 2023.
That venue has become a hub for Chinese esports, having hosted more than 130 live events, including matches for the King Pro League (KPL), the Challenger Cup, and the DOTA National Championship. These events have drawn close to 200,000 spectators and contributed an estimated 100 million RMB (~£10.3 million) to the local economy, according to Wolves Esports.
The club’s expansion comes at a time of rising success across several game titles. While the Honor of Kings division continues to anchor its Chinese presence, Wolves Esports also fields teams in VALORANT, QQ Speed, Identity V, Naraka: Bladepoint, Call of Duty: Mobile, and FC Online.
