Microsoft is set to enhance its mobile gaming offerings by enabling in-app purchases through the Xbox App on Android, with plans to launch this feature in November. The announcement was made by Xbox president Sarah Bond via social media, stating that players will soon have the ability to buy and play games directly from the app.
While specific titles available for purchase have not yet been revealed, this development marks a significant step in Microsoft's strategy to engage mobile gamers. The introduction of in-app sales may also tie into the company’s broader ambitions to create its own mobile app store, which was initially slated for a summer launch with popular first-party titles like Candy Crush and Minecraft.
However, it remains uncertain whether the mobile store will function independently of the Xbox App or serve a different purpose entirely. Microsoft Gaming chief Phil Spencer previously hinted at plans for a dedicated mobile store, mentioning collaborations with unnamed partners.
