|content=Ubisoft has announced that it has acquired the upcoming multiplayer online battle arena game March of Giants. Along with the game, Ubisoft is also bringing in the Montreal-based development team that has been working on the project. The team was previously owned by Amazon Game Studios. The financial details of the deal were not shared.

The acquisition comes after Amazon made major cuts to its game publishing division as part of a wider reduction in staff across the company.

March of Giants is being led by several well-known developers with past ties to Ubisoft. Creative Director Xavier Marquis previously worked as the original Creative Director on Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege. Senior Production Leader Alexandre Parizeau was once the Managing Director of Ubisoft Toronto. The team will now work within one of Ubisoft’s Creative Houses, though the company has not said which one.

This move is part of [[Companies/Ubisoft|Ubisoft]]’s ongoing company reorganization. That reorganization includes the creation of Vantage Studios, a Tencent-backed subsidiary that now oversees major franchises such as Assassin’s Creed, Rainbow Six, and Far Cry.

The game was first revealed in September and has recently finished a closed alpha test. In its announcement, Ubisoft shared that the team is “currently preparing the next large-scale update, which will introduce new giants, expanded competitive modes, and foundational systems designed to support long-term growth.” As part of the agreement, Amazon will also help market March of Giants on Twitch.
