contentText[[Companies/Microsoft|Microsoft]] has announced significant changes at 343 Industries, now rebranded as Halo Studios. The studio will transition from its proprietary Slipspace Engine to Unreal Engine 5, enabling development of multiple new titles in the Halo series. Leaders from Halo Studios cited the benefits of hiring staff experienced with a widely-used engine and the need to reduce resources dedicated to maintaining Slipspace. The team is collaborating with Epic Games to adapt Unreal Engine for Halo's requirements. "The way we made Halo games before doesn't necessarily work as well for the way we want to make games for the future," said Halo Studios COO Elizabeth van Wyck. "So part of the conversation we had was about how we help the team focus on making games, versus making the tools and the engines."
