content | Text | | BLAST R6 has announced significant changes for its 2025 esports ecosystem, aiming to enhance sustainability, engagement, and opportunities for players, teams, and fans.
The 2025 competitive calendar introduces a restructured season designed to improve the flow of events. Key updates include breaks for Tier 2 teams and the launch of the Challenger Series. The season will commence with a break following the Six Invitational, allowing grassroots and Tier 2 teams to compete in the Challenger Series for spots in Regional Leagues.
2025 Competitive Calendar:
March - April: Focus on the Challenger Series, highlighting grassroots and Tier 2 teams.
May: Launch of a new LAN May Kickoff Event, replacing traditional May Majors, featuring top teams.
June - July: Regional Leagues Stage 1.
August: Short break for third-party competitions.
September - October: Regional Leagues Stage 2.
November: Major global event for top teams.
December: Regional finals to crown champions.
December - January: Last Chance Qualifiers for the Six Invitational 2026.
February: Six Invitational 2026 in France.
This structure aims to ensure consistent competition and preparation periods throughout the year.
Challenger Series Overview:
The Challenger Series will serve as a pathway for emerging teams. It will include:
Open Qualifiers: All teams can compete.
Group Stages: Successful teams face various opponents.
Playoffs: Top teams from groups will advance.
Promotion: High-performing teams can earn spots in Regional Leagues.
This initiative is designed to cultivate new talent in the Rainbow Six esports scene.
R6 Share Evolution:
In addition, R6 Share will undergo significant changes in 2025. The program, critical since its launch in 2020, will transition to multiple releases per year instead of a single annual release. The new R6 Share Partner Program will provide partner teams with two bundle releases annually and expand item categories for fan representation. |
