content | Text | | [[Companies/Unity|Unity]] Technologies announced the global launch of Unity 6 at its Unite developer conference, scheduled for October 17, 2024. The new engine will introduce customizable graphics rendering, accelerated multiplayer development, and tools for web browser game optimization, including a new WebGPU backend.
Unity 6 will also integrate artificial intelligence tools, such as Sentis, enabling the use of AI models across devices. Additionally, an expansion of the Muse suite of AI tools and services will be included.
Following the launch of Unity 6, Unity 6.1 is expected to release in April 2025, building on the core capabilities of Unity 6. It will support foldable and larger screens, deferred rendering in the GPU Resident Drawer, and introduce new build targets. Features will include incorporating ECS into the engine, a new content pipeline, a worldbuilding system based on DOTS, an updated animation system, and improved scripting.
