In a major roster shake-up, G2 Esports CEO Alban Dechelotte has confirmed the sale of Ilya "⁠m0NESY" Osipov to Team Falcons, with the Russian AWPer set to debut for his new team at IEM Melbourne on April 21.

The move follows months of speculation and negotiations between the two organizations. With m0NESY’s contract set to expire at the end of the year, G2 ultimately opted to finalize the transfer and avoid losing the player on a free deal.

“Rumors are true. We have decided to accept the trade of our young goat of CS,” Dechelotte said in a statement.

The transfer will see m0NESY reunite with former G2 teammate Nikola ‘NiKo’ Kovač, who recently led Falcons to a dominant 3-0 victory against G2 in the PGL Bucharest 2025 grand final—a win that secured the team’s first LAN trophy.

Though Falcons had previously attempted to sign m0NESY during the winter off-season, talks fell through at the time. With just eight months remaining on the star’s contract, G2 made the call to complete the transfer immediately after PGL Bucharest.

Fans won’t have to wait long to see m0NESY in action. Following his IEM Melbourne debut, he’ll be part of the Falcons lineup for the BLAST.tv Austin Major, which kicks off on June 6.

G2 General Manager Stilgar expressed mixed emotions over the departure in a social media post.

“I’m very sad to see Ilya go but I wish him the best and thank him for the magic moments he gave us,” Stilgar tweeted.

He also acknowledged the strain m0NESY’s contract situation had placed on internal team dynamics and planning for the future.

“It was obvious that he was becoming a bit disconnected from the rest of the team due to his situation and it was very difficult to have meaningful conversations with potential talents without the clarity around his future,” he wrote.
