Better Collective has announced layoffs affecting around 300 employees, including the entire staff of Dust2.se and key members of Dust2.us, such as Editor-in-Chief Ryan Friend and Senior Writer Jeff Moore. Dust2.se will be shut down as a result of these layoffs, which came as a surprise since Dust2.us had been meeting performance targets.
The layoffs stem from Better Collective’s overall underperformance. Friend clarified that the decision was made by Better Collective, not the HLTV.org team.

Friend, who became Editor-in-Chief of Dust2.us in February 2022 after his previous venture, Rush B Media, ceased operations, confirmed the news on social media. Kalle ‘Hallonkraem’ Strömgren, Editor-in-Chief of Dust2.se, also announced his layoff and the site's closure. Other Dust2.us freelancers have similarly reported their layoffs. Notably, other Dust2 sites (Dust2.br, Dust2.in, Dust2.dk) and HLTV.org remain unaffected by these layoffs.
