Epic Games has filed a second antitrust lawsuit against Google and Samsung, alleging that they are conspiring to undermine third-party app stores. This lawsuit follows Epic's victory in December over Google regarding illegal app store monopoly practices.

The current lawsuit focuses on Samsung's “Auto Blocker” feature, which is enabled by default on new Samsung devices. This feature prevents users from installing apps unless they originate from “authorized sources,” specifically Google and Samsung's own app stores. Epic contends that there is no clear process for rival app stores to gain “authorized” status.

According to Epic, the process to disable the Auto Blocker requires users to navigate a complicated “21-step process,” which they argue deters users from installing third-party app stores. While some may view this claim as exaggerated—Epic’s website suggests turning off Auto Blocker takes just four steps—the company emphasizes the significant barriers this feature creates.

Users have reported that Auto Blocker not only restricts the installation of the Epic Games Store but also fails to provide guidance on how to disable the feature when an installation attempt is blocked.
