Turkey has officially blocked access to the Discord, citing a court ruling and concerns over the platform's refusal to comply with government requests for user information. The decision, announced by Turkish authorities on Wednesday, comes amid rising public outrage following the recent murders of two women in Istanbul, allegedly linked to discussions on the platform.

The Turkish Information Technologies and Communication Authority detailed the access ban on its website, stating that an Ankara court determined there was "sufficient suspicion" that crimes, including "child sexual abuse and obscenity," had been facilitated via Discord.

Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu expressed frustration over the platform's structure, noting that the nature of Discord makes it challenging for authorities to monitor and respond to illegal content. "Security personnel cannot go through the content. We can only intervene when users complain to us about content shared there," he explained to reporters in parliament.

In light of Discord's refusal to share user information, including IP addresses, with Turkish security units, the government felt compelled to implement the access ban. The San Francisco-based company acknowledged reports of accessibility issues in both Turkey and Russia and stated that its team is currently investigating the situation.
