Treyarch is making several adjustments to Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 ahead of its November 14 release, with key changes to movement, perks, and aim assist detailed in the latest Dev Talk update. The changes are based on feedback gathered during the game’s recent beta test.
Among the biggest updates is a change to how players handle weapons while moving. Design Director Matt Scronce confirmed that aiming down sights while sliding, diving, or wall-jumping will now be enabled by default. This added mobility no longer requires the Dexterity perk, freeing up perk slots and giving players more flexibility.
Perk loadouts are also being reworked. Treyarch has shifted several popular perks to new categories, creating more combinations and strategic choices. Notably, the Tech Mask perk has been moved to slot two. This allows it to be used alongside Flak Jacket, offering enhanced protection from both lethal and tactical equipment — a combination that could influence competitive play.
Aim assist has also come under review. Scronce explained that recent data showed slight advantages depending on control method. "Controller players are winning slightly more in close-range engagements, and keyboard and mouse players are winning slightly more at long range," he said. In response, Treyarch is tuning the strength of rotational aim assist to better balance performance between the two input types.
