TL;DR
- Fortnite's April Fools 2026 update adds five limited-time gameplay modifiers: big heads, finger gun weapons, fall damage immunity, ridable llamas, and the ability to stack players on each other's shoulders with no height limit.
- All five features are available for one day only, making today the only chance to ride a llama across the island or build a human tower with your entire lobby.
Fortnite's April Fools update is here. Five modifiers, one day, zero competitive integrity.
Here's everything that's live right now.
Contents
Big Heads
Epic Games has revived that tradition for April 1st. It doesn't change how the game plays in any meaningful way. It just makes every gunfight look profoundly ridiculous, which is the entire point.
Finger Guns
Couldn't find a weapon during the drop? Doesn't matter. Finger guns are in the loot pool today, firing imaginary ammo with comic-book style "Pew" pop-ups appearing on screen for each shot. They apparently work. Opponents can be eliminated with them. Whether this reveals something about Fortnite's underlying lethality calculations or is just April Fools logic is a question for another day.
The visual feedback alone makes this worth picking up over a real weapon at least once.
Fall Damage Immunity
You will not die from falling. You will, however, hear an amusing splat sound effect when you land. Epic giving players a safety net but keeping the comedic audio consequence is exactly the right call here.
Practically, this opens up drop options and rotations that would normally be suicidal. Use it while it lasts.
Ridable Llamas
The best addition in the update. Ridable llamas are scattered across the island for today only, and the case for making this permanent is genuinely strong. Llamas are already one of Fortnite's most iconic visual elements. Giving players the ability to ride them around the map is a natural extension that the game should have done years ago. It probably won't stay. But the lobbying starts now.
Shoulder Riding
You and your squadmates can stack on each other's shoulders, and there's apparently no cap on the height. In theory, you could rally an entire lobby into a single human skyscraper. In practice, that tower will last approximately four seconds before someone panics and jumps off, collapsing the whole structure immediately.
