contentTextSquare Enix has disclosed that a group of individuals is facing criminal charges for the distribution of fake merchandise in China. According to a press announcement by the company, nine individuals were charged in May 2023 in Guangdong province. Among them, six were involved in the distribution of the counterfeit products, while three were charged with manufacturing them. The fake merchandise, which featured characters from popular Square Enix titles such as Final Fantasy and Nier: Automata, was confiscated as a result of the legal action.
