contentTextRansomware hackers known as Mogilevich recently claimed to have leaked 189GB of data from [[Companies/Epic Games|Epic Games]], but instead of the promised sensitive information, the group conveyed a message revealing they were professional fraudsters. The group admitted fabricating the hack to gain attention and trick aspiring hackers into purchasing fake ransomware infrastructure of Epic Games. They stated that they have sold the data to 8 different hackers and even got paid more by stating that they hacked their crypto wallets as well. They even duped one buyer into paying $85,000 for a purportedly hacked network of drone maker DJI. The group stated '''“this was done to illustrate the process of our scam. We don’t think of ourselves as hackers but rather as criminal geniuses, if you can call us that.”'''
