Team Liquid has been crowned champion of BLAST Slam VI after defeating Natus Vincere 3-1 in the Grand Finals of the Dota 2 tournament. The victory secures Liquid the lion’s share of the $1 million prize pool and marks a major statement performance on the international stage.
The win caps off a deep lower bracket style run that saw Liquid overcome multiple elite teams on its path to the trophy.
Liquid’s Road to the Title
Team Liquid’s campaign did not begin at the top. The squad finished third in the Group Stage with a 7-4 record, while NAVI topped the standings and secured a direct route to the Playoffs.
Liquid first had to battle through the Play-In Stage, where it earned a clean 2-0 victory over GamerLegion to advance.
One of the biggest moments of the event came shortly after, when Tundra Esports, winners of the previous four BLAST Slam events, were eliminated following a 0-2 loss to HEROIC. That result guaranteed a new champion would be crowned.
In the Quarterfinals, Liquid faced The International 2025 champions, Team Falcons. The series delivered high tension throughout, with Liquid narrowly securing a 3-2 victory in one of the most competitive matchups of the tournament.
The momentum continued into the Semifinals, where Liquid swept OG Esports 3-0 in dominant fashion to book a spot in the Grand Finals.
On the other side of the bracket, NAVI reached the final after edging past Team Yandex 3-2 in a tightly contested semifinal series.
Grand Finals: Liquid Seals It 3-1
In the championship match, Team Liquid delivered a composed performance against NAVI, closing out the best-of-five series 3-1. The win highlights Liquid’s resilience after starting the event outside the top two in groups and having to navigate additional elimination matches.
The result adds another major trophy to Liquid’s Dota 2 legacy and reinforces its position among the world’s top teams heading into the remainder of the season.
BLAST Slam VII Announced With Format Changes
Following the conclusion of BLAST Slam VI, tournament organiser BLAST confirmed details for BLAST Slam VII.
The next edition will take place in Copenhagen, Denmark, from May 26th to June 7th. It will also introduce format adjustments that will become standard for future events.
Week one of the tournament will be played online. Twelve teams will compete in a best-of-one round-robin Group Stage. The top four teams will advance directly to the Playoffs.
Teams finishing fifth through 10th will move into the Last Chance Qualifier. According to BLAST, four LCQ matches will be played. The seventh and 10th placed teams will meet in a best-of-three series, as will the eighth and ninth placed teams. The winners will then face the fifth and sixth placed teams in qualification matches, with the victors earning the final Playoff spots.
BLAST has previously adjusted its Dota 2 format, including changes introduced last June, showing the organiser’s willingness to refine its competitive structure.
