Team Liquid is a well-established professional esports organization based in the Netherlands, founded in 2000. Initially focusing on StarCraft II, they ventured into multi-genre management with the acquisition of a North American Dota 2 team in 2012. In 2015, Team Liquid merged with Team Curse, expanding their roster to include teams from various gaming genres.
Throughout their history, Team Liquid has achieved significant success across multiple esports titles. Their European Dota 2 squad notably secured victory at The International 2017, one of the most lucrative esports tournaments ever. In League of Legends, Team Liquid has clinched four LCS titles, while their Counter-Strike Global Offensive team claimed the prestigious Intel Grand Slam prize in 2019.
Expanding their presence globally, Team Liquid has also established teams in Brazil for Rainbow Six Siege, Free Fire, and Valorant. Additionally, they operate Liquipedia, an extensive resource for esports information.
Team Liquid's journey began with the launch of their website in 2001, initially focused on StarCraft news. Over time, they diversified their coverage to include other games like Dota 2. In 2015, Steven "LiQuiD112" Arhancet joined as co-owner, leading to the merger with Team Curse.
In 2016, Team Liquid sold its controlling interest to aXiomatic Gaming, a prominent investment group featuring notable figures such as Peter Guber, Ted Leonsis, Tony Robbins, Magic Johnson, and Steve Case, further solidifying their position in the esports industry.
