As fans dive into the Fallout universe with projects like New Vegas and the Fallout TV series, all eyes are on Bethesda for a potential Fallout 5. Though there’s been no official word yet, the developers have hinted at what could come next.
Emil Pagliarulo, Bethesda’s studio design director, shared his thoughts in a recent interview saying that the next Fallout should offer an experience that keeps players engaged for hundreds of hours. "I would be happy with a game that is as successful as the previous Fallout games that continues to give fans what they love," Pagliarulo explained. He emphasized the importance of delivering a game that balances story and replayability, something Fallout is known for with its vast open worlds and side missions.
Pagliarulo also hinted at improving quality-of-life features, pointing to how the Oblivion remaster added features like sprinting, which were missing in the original. "So, of course we're going to add that in the Oblivion remaster," he said, suggesting similar updates for Fallout 5 could be in the works.
With Bethesda's reputation for expansive, immersive worlds, Fallout 5 will need to live up to the high expectations set by its predecessors. While there’s still no official announcement, Pagliarulo’s comments indicate that the franchise’s future could involve both new innovations and improvements on beloved features.
