Still 3 years away but there is a timeline.
Blizzard announced Diablo 5 for Spring 2029and StarCraft for Spring 2030. Both announced at BlizzCon 2026, both potentially still in pre-production.
Faries stated "We want to convey confidence in some of our biggest bets coming forward. We're a Blizzard that's going to ship, and ship big, and ship on time, and all hands on deck to set those projects up for success."
Diablo 4 was revealed at BlizzCon 2019 and arrived in 2023, and Blizzard's history of long gaps between announcement is expected.
The naming, and the genre
The new game is called StarCraft, currecntly that is the title.
Faries framed it as "We came out with a strong belief that this is a StarCraft for the modern, next generation of players without departing from our RTS roots. And we'll have more to say about that, you know, over the years here."
The cinematic reveal announced it as an open-world shooter set in the Koprulu Sector, on console and PC. Whether "without departing from our RTS roots" survives contact with that is a question for 2030.
Diablo 5
Spring 2029 is the date and it is picking up after Sanctuary has fallen and Diablo has won. Three classes confirmed so far: Demon Hunter, Monk, and a new Plague Knight.
Diablo 4 will continue to get updates, with a 30th anniversary season next month and the Amazon class in 2027.
The context Faries didn't address
Microsoft has 1,600 more Xbox job cuts to make over the next year. Blizzard was largely spared the first wave until now.
Faries didn't discuss potential job losses but said she wanted BlizzCon to be "a sort of oasis, a moment for real joy" for staff and fans. Her stated priority is Blizzard "Preserving that has been my ultimate focus. The unique special sauce that is Blizzard both culturally and creatively."
She also said Asha Sharma the CEO of Xbox visited Blizzard in March, shortly after her appointment, and hoped it would help the new Xbox CEO understand how the studio works.
Everything else from the ceremony: World of Warcraft Forever launching 4 November with an alternate vanilla timeline, a new Warcraft 3 expansion, Overwatch's tenth anniversary Season 5 with a vampire-inspired support hero called Doctrine, Hearthstone adding the Monk class in March 2027, Xal'atath joining Heroes of the Storm this month as its first new character in six years, and an animated Diablo series in development at Netflix with Overwatch and Warcraft adaptations teased.
