Max vs 100 runs at Silverstone on 16 September, streaming live on Disney+ globally and the ESPN App in the US, with a delayed ESPN2 broadcast later the same day.
Verstappen will start at the back of a 101-kart GRID and has to pass every single driver before time runs out.
Marc "Caedrel" Lamont is on that grid, alongside fellow streamers TheGrefg and TheDonato, ultrarunner Arda Saatçi, basketball shooting specialist Chris "Lethal Shooter" Matthews and freestyle mountain biker Matt Jones. The rest of the field mixes Red Bull athletes, content creators, media personalities, surprise guests and everyday fans invited from around the world.
Caedrel is a Red Bull athlete, which is the straightforward explanation for the invitation. He is also an avid F1 fan.
The radio
The format's real hook is that Verstappen can talk directly to his rivals during the race. It will be interesting since he is known for his unique way of talking.
Asked what he was most looking forward to, Verstappen said: "Just seeing the carnage unfold in front of me."
Can he do it
David Terrien, former racing driver and karting world champion, designed the Custom layout.
The designers assessment framed it "I think to overtake 100 cars is going to be extremely difficult. Today we did it with 50, and even that was a challenge to do it in the allotted time. He's got his work cut out for him big time."
Verstappen will certainly try "I would like to believe so," he said when asked if he could beat 100 drivers, "but it really depends on a lot of different things." Then, smiling: "It just depends on how bad they are. In go-karts you learn all the basics: starts, defending, overtaking," he said. "It's about understanding the grip of the go-kart. I've done so many years in go-karting that you quite naturally get back into things."
