The Call of Duty League (CDL) is officially gearing up for its return, with the 2026 season set to kick off in early December — just weeks after the highly anticipated launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 on November 14. The upcoming season will mark the end of a six-month off-season, continuing the league's recent trend of December starts.
CDL commentator Miles Ross confirmed the return timeline during the recent COD Next 2025 broadcast, noting that the league would resume before the end of the year. “The franchise league will be starting before the end of 2025,” Ross announced. While a specific date has yet to be confirmed, league officials have promised that the full season schedule will be revealed in the coming weeks.
This early December launch mirrors the previous season's structure, which began shortly after the release of Black Ops 6 in December 2024. That season concluded in June 2025, with OpTic Texas securing back-to-back championships after winning the CDL Championship 2025 — their second consecutive title.
With the start of the new competitive year on the horizon, several franchises have yet to finalize or announce their rosters. The Carolina Royal Ravens, Toronto Ultra, Boston Breach, Cloud9 New York, Los Angeles Guerrillas M8, and Vancouver Surge are among the teams still holding back details about their lineups.
While fans await those announcements, speculation is also building around a possible international return for the league. Rumors suggest that CDL may be heading back to the UK in 2026, which would mark the league’s first event there since the CDL London Home Series in 2020.
