A first.
Rasmus "Caps" Winther is the third inductee of Hall of Legends, following Faker in 2024 and Uzi in 2025. He's also the first from the West and the first from the LEC, which is the part European fans have been waiting eight years to see acknowledged.
Riot confirmed it on 16 August. The announcement video was posted League YouTube channel with a description of Caps as "a beacon of hope whose legacy reshaped what the West believed was possible on the global stage."
The case
Seventeen LEC titles, a record for LEC. Seventeen All-Pro selections, four LEC MVPs, seven Finals MVP awards, also a record across League of Legends
The international resume is where it gets interesting, because he never won Worlds, even though he made it to finals. Two consecutive finals, 2018 with Fnatic and 2019 with G2. The 2019 run got closest to a Western world title than anything since the game's earliest years, and ended against FunPlus Phoenix in Paris. Grast match by the way.
He also has MSI 2019 and the Finals MVP that came with it. G2 beat T1 on the way there, then Team Liquid in the final. For a region that has spent most of its history losing to Korea and China, it was great.
Chris Greeley, Riot's global head of LoL esports, stated "Caps always felt like the player you could never fully prepare for. He has that rare 'it' factor, the ability to rise in the biggest moments through his playmaking, leadership, and calming presence under pressure." He added that Caps "exemplifies everything we hope our esports heroes can be."
Still doing it
The induction isn't a retirement note.
G2 beat BNK FEARX and Gen.G to reach the First Stand 2026 grand final. At MSI they knocked out Top Esports and then T1, eliminated Faker's roster from the tournament. That T1 win became the most-watched League game of 2026.
There's a symmetry in the Faker connection. Caps arrived carrying the nickname "Baby Faker," which started as an unreasonable comparison and turned into an actual rivalry across the decade.
Tristana, apparently
The trophy ceremony is in Berlin on 18 August. A dedicated in-game event follows on 10 September with Patch 26.18, built around an event pass walking through his career, plus cosmetics.
PBE leaks point to Tristana receiving the Immortalized Legend skin. It's an odd pick on paper for a mid laner, until you remember the 2019 role swap with Perkz, when Caps moved to mid and Perkz went bot. Tristana was iconic during his first era.
Riot hasn't confirmed the full cosmetic lineup. More Hall of Legends detail is due from 24 August.
