EA Sports has confirmed it will not release F1 26, breaking its annual tradition for the Formula 1 game series. Instead, the company will introduce a paid expansion for F1 25 that brings the full 2026 season lineup and updates tied to the sport’s major rule changes.
The add-on will feature all eleven teams and drivers set to compete in the 2026 World Championship. It will also reflect the real-world shift to new aerodynamic and engine regulations, which Formula 1 hopes will improve racing and create closer competition on track.
A completely new mainline title is planned for 2027. EA Sports describes this upcoming release as a more ambitious and authentic take on the sport, offering fresh ways to play while expanding on modes already enjoyed by both newcomers and dedicated sim racers.
“With Formula 1’s momentum on and off the track, now is the perfect time for us to look ahead and build for the future,” said Lee Mather, Senior Creative Director at Codemasters. “Our multi-year plan extends this year’s excitement with the 2026 expansion and reimagines the F1 experience for 2027 to deliver even more for players at every level around the world.”
Electronic Arts says pricing and a release date for the 2026 expansion will be revealed sometime next year.
