T1 has announced that Athena, one of the idols in K-pop group FIFTY FIFTY, has become the official ambassador for its Valorant team. The South Korean organisation confirmed the partnership on June 16, with FIFTY FIFTY's agency Attrakt stating that Athena will be active in "various ways" in the role going forward. The signing continues a clear strategy from T1 to broaden its reach beyond the core esports audience, coming just weeks after the org brought on two-time Masters champion Tyson "TenZ" Ngo as a content creator in May.
What separates this from a typical brand deal is that Athena is a genuine Valorant fan and a capable player in her own right. She has been playing the game for around four to five years and peaked at Immortal 1 with 97 RR, a legitimately high rank, though she admitted in the ambassador announcement video that her ranking has slipped due to her demanding idol schedule. A self-described smokes main, she named Astra, Sage, and Vyse as her favourite agents. Her connection to the team isn't new either, as she previously appeared in T1's Valorant One-Day Class video back in November, making the official role a natural progression rather than a cold partnership.
Athena was visibly thrilled about the appointment, saying it had been roughly four to five years since she started playing Valorant and that she had wanted to do something official with the game "since day one." She added that getting to do it alongside "such an iconic team like T1" felt "like a dream come true." Her enthusiasm carries extra weight given T1's recent Valorant pedigree, with the team having claimed its first-ever Valorant title at Masters Bangkok in 2025.
The Athena signing fits neatly into T1's wider ambition to grow its global audience by blending esports with mainstream entertainment. FIFTY FIFTY bring serious reach of their own, sitting at around 6.9 million monthly listeners on Spotify, with their breakout hit "Cupid" having amassed over 1.1 billion plays, and the group is currently promoting its fourth mini-album, "Imperfect-I'mperfect," released June 1. Pairing that K-pop audience with TenZ's enormous Valorant following, his Twitch channel alone has around 4.5 million followers, gives T1 two very different but complementary funnels into its brand.
