FURIA leaves Valorant scene.

The statement, in full:

After taking the time to reflect on the competitive landscape and what’s next for FURIA, we’ve made the decision to step away from the mixed VALORANT competitive scene in 2027.

VALORANT has been our home. It’s where we invested in talent, built something special, and created memories we’ll carry with us forever. Through the wins, the losses, and everything we learned along the way, you were always there with us.

To every player, coach, staff member, and partner who has been part of this journey: thank you. Each of you has played a part in our story. All of our players and coaching staff will become free agents on November 2, and we wish them nothing but the best in whatever comes next.

To our fans who cheered us on, stood by us, and believed in us every step of the way: we can’t thank you enough.

This isn’t goodbye. We’ll continue to follow the scene closely, and the door will always be open.

As for our future in the inclusive VALORANT scene, we’ll have more to share with you soon.

What happened

Riot reduced partner slots from ten to eight per region for the 2027-2028 cycle. FURIA realized it hadn’t made the list after four years as a partnered team, and said then it had received the decision “with profound disappointment.”

The answer was to leave the mixed scene entirely rather than drop to Challengers, which means passing up a direct invite to the closed qualifier that offers a Kickoff spot.

Game Changers will continue. FURIA recently moved its women’s Counter-Strike roster into Valorant, and that side of the operation is unaffected.

The roster

artzin, basic, C0M, koalanoob and Shyy, with shaW coaching. All free agents starting today.

eeiu, benched earlier in the year, has reportedly already agreed a verbal return to NRG.

The year it ended

In february they were the VCT Americas Kickoff champions, beating MIBR 3-2, FURIA’s first Tier 1 Valorant trophy.

Then Masters Santiago, where they entered directly at the playoffs and went 0-2 for seventh-eighth. Seventh-eighth again in both remaining VCT Americas splits. No Esports World Cup qualification.

Eight months from trophy to exit.

The wider pattern

Americas rejections also affected teams such as Cloud9, FlyQuest, Shopify Rebellion, ENVY, M80 and LYON. Partners for 2027 are LOUD, Sentinels, KRÜ, G2, LEVIATÁN, 100 Thieves, MIBR and NRG.

LYON, FOKUS, S8UL, RIDDLE and Global Esports have all withdrawn from Tier 1. NAVI has scaled back while keeping an academy roster. Evil Geniuses shut down entirely last week, having also missed the partnership.

Brazil keeps two partner teams in LOUD and MIBR. It loses the organisation that won the region’s first event this year.
