Fortnite's Next Season May Turn Into a Video Game Hall of Fame

Fresh leaks point to Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 being built entirely around a "Gaming Legends" theme, a season-long celebration of iconic video game franchises rather than the usual scattering of one-off crossovers. The claim comes from several of the community's most reliable dataminers, including HYPEX, ShiinaBR, and SamLeakss, reportedly drawn from encrypted files in a recent update. Epic Games hasn't confirmed anything, so treat all of this as rumour until it's official.

What's Reportedly Coming
The leakers have split the collaborations into two tiers, those they consider leaked or effectively confirmed, and those still firmly in rumour territory.
On the stronger-evidence side: Sonic the Hedgehog (rumoured to headline the Battle Pass), Kingdom Hearts, Persona 5, Vampire Survivors, and a few smaller names like Ember & Blade, Kernel Hearts, and Kakao Games.
Still unconfirmed and to be taken with more caution: Mega Man, Crash Bandicoot, and Marvel Tokon.
Some specific content has leaked for the Persona side in particular, with SamLeakss describing a possible Joker Battle Pass skin, a Morgana back bling, and weapons pulled from Persona 5, plus a rumoured tie-in offering free Persona-themed Rocket League rewards transferable into Fortnite. Notably, it's Persona 5 specifically rather than the broader series, which makes sense given Joker's existing mainstream recognition from his Super Smash Bros. appearance.
The Caveats Worth Keeping in Mind
A few important things temper the excitement. First, HYPEX has openly cautioned that most of these leaks aren't fresh discoveries but "leftovers" from information that circulated earlier this year, before a lawsuit, meaning some plans may since have been changed, delayed, or scrapped entirely. That's a significant asterisk on the whole list.
Second, there's precedent for disappointment here. A very similar Persona x Fortnite leak surfaced back in 2024 and never materialised, so this wouldn't be the first time the collaboration was teased and fell through. And on Kingdom Hearts, one leaker raised a fair practical doubt, questioning whether Disney would permit its original characters like Mickey, Donald, or Goofy to run around a shooter, so even if the collab happens, don't necessarily expect the Disney-owned faces.
Why This Would Be a Genuine First
The concept itself is what makes this notable. Fortnite's Gaming Legends Series has existed since 2020, when the Kratos skin from God of War kicked it off, and it has since grown to include the likes of Master Chief, Lara Croft, and Resident Evil characters. But those have always arrived as isolated Item Shop additions or individual Battle Pass inclusions. Epic has never dedicated an entire Battle Royale season to gaming crossovers, so elevating the category into a full seasonal theme would be a real shift, effectively turning Fortnite into a rotating hall of fame for the medium itself. How Epic would incorporate less humanoid properties like Vampire Survivors remains an open and intriguing question.
Timing and the Chapter's Endgame
The current season, Chapter 7 Season 3 "Runners," which has leaned on Fortnite's own lore while still slipping in a John Wick crossover, is set to end August 19, with Season 4 expected to begin shortly after, some leaks pointing to a September 4 release. Its placement in the chapter matters too, since this is expected to be the final full-length season of Chapter 7. Following the pattern set by last year's Simpsons collaboration, it's likely to be followed by a shorter mini-season before the chapter concludes with a live event.
That positioning fuels some interesting speculation about the finale. If the season really is a wall-to-wall celebration of gaming's biggest names, it opens the door to an enormous crossover spectacle to close the chapter out, and lays groundwork for further major collaborations down the line. For now, though, it's a very promising set of rumours from trustworthy sources, wrapped in enough caveats that fans would be wise to keep expectations in check until Epic Games makes it official.
