Turkish team Galatasaray are taking another step into the esports world with a fresh sponsorship agreement signed with PUBG Mobile, the biggest mobile battle royale. The partnership aims to widen the club's reach in the fast-growing mobile esports scene.
The deal was officially confirmed just ahead of a special signing ceremony planned on January 14 at the Ali Sami Yen Sports Complex Rams Park, the club's home stadium in Istanbul.
Fans and media are expected to get a front-row view as Niyazi Yelkencioğlu, Vice President of Galatasaray Sports Club, and Can Gürsu, PUBG Mobile Country Manager for Turkey, deliver speeches, put pen to paper on the agreement, and then open things up for a Q&A with reporters.
Unlike PUBG desktop, PUBG Mobile, brought to life by Tencent's Lightspeed Studios back in 2018, has grown into a worldwide phenomenon. It's not just about casual drops anymore; the game's competitive circuit draws huge crowds, especially in markets like Turkey where both player numbers and esports viewership stay consistently strong. For Galatasaray, this isn't their first rodeo in esports.
While the club is famous for its football triumphs, they've been building out their esports teams seriously over recent years. Their esports roster already competes in League of Legends, VALORANT, Counter-Strike, Free Fire, and of course PUBG Mobile itself, covering everything from PC classics to mobile favorites.
This sponsorship fits right into their multi-sport model that already includes basketball, volleyball, and even chess, showing how seriously they're taking younger, digitally native fans who live on their phones.Mobile games have become a smart play for big clubs like Galatasaray because they're so accessible and hugely popular with the next generation of supporters.
