Game Informer has made a return after being shut down by GameStop in August 2024.
In a letter to readers, Editor-in-Chief Matt Miller announced that the publication has been acquired by Gunzilla Games. While the firm now owns the Game Informer brand, the outlet will operate independently under the newly formed Game Informer Inc.
The entire team—previously laid off—has been reinstated, and the website has been restored along with its extensive archive of content. When the site was originally taken down, all articles were removed, preventing staff from preserving their work.

"From the beginning, the new owners were adamant that Game Informer remain an independent editorial outlet," Miller wrote.
"They shared our belief that the only way forward was with a team that maintained full control over what we cover and how we cover it—without interference from them or anyone else."
Looking ahead, Game Informer aims to spotlight the most exciting games, celebrate the industry’s rich history, and showcase the creators and players shaping its future.
