It is starting.
A Reddit user posting as synthlov3r shared a recent screenshot of Game Pass Ultimate at 16.09 dollars a month for twelve months, reverting to 22.99 later. Across the year that will total to 193.08 against 275.88 at standard rate, a saving of 82.80.
Others in the thread reported 18 and 20 dollars. Which is different from each other.
Microsoft hasn't confirmed any of this yet. But we know dynamic pricing was in the works for a while.
Who's getting them
Interestingly, the pattern points at lapsed subscribers rather than new customers.
The original post gave useful context: US-based, on and off Game Pass for two years, off it for about a month, actively deciding whether to return. It seems aimed at these potential customers.
Current Ultimate subscribers reported nothing. Although one commenter who does subscribe said they were shown a 20 dollar offer. Another said their secondary account got an offer while their main account didn't, which is the detail that makes account-level targeting look likelier than regional testing.
Some Reddit users highlighted it as a regional A/B testing rather than dynamic pricing. Without Microsoft explaining how offers are assigned, both readings hold.
Offers have reportedly appeared outside the US too.
The timing
This lands several days after Xbox announced monthly cloud gaming caps starting in November: 15 hours for Ultimate, 10 for Premium, 5 for Essential, with extra hours purchasable.
So the week's messaging is a metered service and a discount for people who left. Microsoft also cut Ultimate from 29.99 to 22.99 in April.
Reports earlier this year pointed to Microsoft exploring a build-your-own Game Pass model letting subscribers pick which perks they pay for. Personalised offers would sit comfortably alongside that.
The catch
The discount covers twelve months. Then it's 22.99, and by then you've had a year of not cancelling.
Some users are now considering letting subscriptions lapse to see whether an offer appears. Several who tried reported no welcome-back deal at all. Time will tell if this is real or not.
