Team Secret CEO John ‘zypher84’ Yao has come under fire after mocking Australian Rainbow Six Siege player Jake ‘Virtue’ Grannan following the team’s early elimination from the 2025 Six Invitational.
Team Secret was knocked out of the tournament after a series of defeats to FaZe Clan, Shopify Rebellion, FURIA, and CAG Osaka, securing a top 20 finish and $35,000 in prize money. Following the loss, Virtue announced he had been removed from the roster, expressing his surprise at being let go after one poor tournament performance.

In response, Yao posted a photo showing Virtue with his back to the camera in a hotel room, seemingly using sarcasm to justify the roster change and mocking Virtue’s emotional reaction. Virtue later revealed that he was "almost crying" and unable to face his teammates in the aftermath of the loss.
The post quickly sparked criticism from the Rainbow Six esports community, with many showing support for Virtue and condemning Yao’s behavior. Several fans and players argued that the CEO’s response was embarrassing, emphasizing that players are human and should not be shamed for showing emotion.
Virtue tweeted, “God forbid you cry after thinking you got eliminated from the tournament and don’t want people seeing you cry so you have your head down on your desk. You might get kicked for it. Grown men don’t cry, forgot about that…”
