M80, has officially acquired competitor Beastcoast, but not all of Beastcoast’s teams are making the transition. The announcement was made via a post on X (formerly Twitter), where M80 outlined the details of the acquisition, including the valuable assets and resources they’ve gained from the purchase. A follow-up blog post provided deeper insight into the motivations behind the acquisition and what M80 hopes to achieve with this significant move.
As part of the deal, M80 now owns Beastcoast's top-tier Dota 2 team, adding a major player to their roster in the competitive Dota 2 scene. In addition, M80 has gained control of Beastcoast's influential Pokémon media team, which has been pivotal in organizing grassroots events for Pokémon players of all skill levels. While it's unclear whether this acquisition will impact Beastcoast’s smaller-scale Pokémon tournaments, it’s worth noting that Beastcoast's CEO, Grant Zinn, has joined M80 as their new Chief Business Development Officer. Zinn may continue to champion the Pokémon community and its events under the M80 banner.

However, the acquisition also brought some unfortunate news for Beastcoast’s Rainbow Six Siege team. M80, which already has its own R6 team, has opted not to include Beastcoast's R6 roster in the buyout. As a result, the members of the Beastcoast Rainbow Six team are now without an organization ahead of the upcoming Invitational matches.
