Microsoft may soon introduce a more budget-friendly version of its Xbox Cloud Gaming service, according to new comments made by Xbox leadership. The announcement signals the company’s growing focus on expanding cloud access and enhancing hardware innovation for future gaming experiences.
Speaking on the Official Xbox Podcast (via The Verge), Jason Ronald, Xbox’s Vice President of Gaming Devices and Ecosystem, emphasized the company’s aim to lower the barrier to entry for cloud gaming.
“One of the things we see is there's a lot of players who use Game Pass Ultimate to access the cloud, whether that's the primary way they play, or an additional way to play on the go,” Ronald said. “I think for us, this really opens up the opportunity to make it much more affordable, and make it more accessible to players. Whether that's going into new regions, or new ways to actually access the [Xbox] cloud.”
While details remain limited, Ronald’s comments strongly suggest that Microsoft is exploring options to offer Xbox Cloud Gaming outside of the current Game Pass Ultimate subscription—possibly at a reduced price point or through regionalized offerings.
Beyond cloud services, Ronald also shed light on Microsoft’s multi-year partnership with AMD, announced last month, which will play a pivotal role in shaping the company’s next-generation hardware and infrastructure. This includes future development in consoles, handheld devices, PC gaming, and cloud architecture.
