Riot Games and Moonton Games have officially ended their longstanding legal battle over intellectual property rights concerning Mobile Legends: Bang Bang. Following extensive negotiations, both companies have reached a global settlement and signed a formal agreement, putting an end to the disputes that have persisted since 2017.
The conflict originally erupted when Riot Games sued Moonton in 2017, accusing them of replicating elements from Riot's popular game, League of Legends, within Mobile Legends: Bang Bang. However, the initial case was dismissed as the court deemed it to be within the jurisdiction of a Chinese court.
In 2022, Riot Games once again took legal action against Moonton Games, reigniting the legal dispute. However, the recent settlement brings closure to years of uncertainty and speculation in the gaming community. While the details of the settlement remain confidential, Riot Games' decision to withdraw its lawsuits suggests that both companies have reached a mutual understanding, putting an end to the prolonged legal battle.
