Riot Games to Update LCO Again

Riot Games has announced significant changes to its League of Legends esports structure in Oceania (OCE), effectively ending the League of Legends Circuit: Oceania (LCO). The decision is part of an effort to adapt to the evolving esports landscape and better manage resources.

Riot is currently exploring a new competitive circuit for OCE, with plans to integrate the region into the Asia-Pacific (APAC) League of Legends esports ecosystem by 2025. The OCE scene began in 2015 with the Oceanic Pro League (OPL), which ran until its dissolution in 2020. During this time, it was announced that OCE would no longer occupy import slots in North America's LCS.

The LCO was launched in 2021, operated by ESL Australia and Guinevere Capital, and has hosted eight splits, each with a prize pool of $30,000. The LCO was later incorporated into the Pacific Championship Series (PCS), which also includes Japan's LJL.

In 2025, Riot plans to launch a new APAC League that will combine teams from Vietnam, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Macao, Japan, Oceania, and Southeast Asia. This league will feature a hybrid structure, including both partner and guest teams.
