Sandsoft, the global game developer and publisher, has closed its internal studios in Barcelona and Riyadh, affecting around 65 employees. The company cited a strategic shift toward publishing, an area where it has seen growth and sees further potential.
CEO David Fernández confirmed the move, stating, "We are doubling down on publishing, where we’ve already demonstrated success and see significant opportunities." A company spokesperson emphasized that the decision wasn’t a reflection of the affected teams’ work but about reallocating resources to areas with the most growth potential.
In 2022, Sandsoft entered a partnership with NetEase Games to expand its presence in the MENA region, and the company’s future focus will likely center on that market.
