Scopely, a subsidiary of Savvy Games Group, has completed its $3.5 billion acquisition of Niantic’s game division, finalizing the deal on May 29, 2025.
“We are proud to share that we closed the acquisition of Niantic's game business on May 29, 2025,” Scopely announced in a statement posted on its website.
The acquisition brings a number of popular titles into Scopely’s portfolio, including Pokémon Go, Pikmin Bloom, and Monster Hunter Now, along with Niantic’s social and exploration-focused platforms Campfire and Wayfarer.
“The deal brings category-leading games Pokémon Go, Pikmin Bloom, Monster Hunter Now and community-builder companion apps and services Campfire and Wayfarer to the Scopely portfolio,” the company noted.
Scopely also confirmed that more than 400 Niantic employees will be joining its global team. “We look forward to welcoming over 400 of Niantic's world-class gamemakers to our global team, where they will continue to serve their incredible community of players,” the statement continued.
Originally announced in March 2025, the acquisition came with a commitment from Scopely to avoid layoffs as part of the integration process. At the time, the company also affirmed its support for Niantic’s existing projects, stating that it intended to “continue pursuing the ambitious roadmaps” for each game.
Pokémon Go, the standout title in the lineup, has remained a dominant force in mobile gaming since its launch in 2016. The game maintained a top 10 position annually and attracted over 100 million users in 2024.
