The developers at 1047 Games have pushed back against criticism surrounding the low Steam player numbers for Splitgate: Arena Reloaded, the rebranded and relaunched version of Splitgate 2, emphasizing that concurrent stats don't tell the full story.

Originally launched as Splitgate 2 in summer 2025 to mixed reception, the portal-based arena shooter was pulled back into beta for major overhauls. It relaunched free-to-play on December 17, 2025, as Splitgate: Arena Reloaded across PC (Steam, Epic, Windows), PlayStation, and Xbox – but has struggled to regain significant momentum on Steam.

In a recent social media post addressing the ongoing discourse, the team stated:

Steam Charts don’t measure fun. They show one number, on one platform, at one given moment. They don’t show the full picture or what it feels like to actually play, and they definitely don’t capture the community that’s actively helping shape what Arena Reloaded is becoming (including upcoming content like Arena Royale).Over the past six months, we rebuilt Splitgate from the ground up because we believe in the game, our team, and our community. The 1047 team remains committed to delivering the best version of Splitgate possible. To our amazing community: thank you. Your feedback and passion have helped make Arena Reloaded better every day.And to everyone who hasn’t played yet: Arena Reloaded is free, the gameplay’s the best it’s ever been, and we’d love for you to jump in and form your own opinion. A lot of passionate people worked very hard on it.

Current Player Numbers and Context

As of early January 2026, Steam concurrent player counts for Splitgate: Arena Reloaded hover around 500-1,000, with a post-relaunch peak of about 2,300. While these figures have drawn concern from parts of the community, 1047 Games highlights that Steam represents only one platform and doesn't reflect cross-play across consoles or overall engagement. The relaunch removed factions, abilities, and certain equipment to refocus on classic arena combat, adding features like map pickups and legendary weapons. Upcoming modes, such as Arena Royale, are also in the pipeline.
