StarLadder has confirmed that it will be organizing the second Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Major of 2025 in Budapest, Hungary. Scheduled to run from November 24 to December 14, the StarLadder Budapest Major will feature a revamped format with 32 teams and four stages, following the expansion introduced earlier this year.
The opening stages of the tournament will take place at the MTK Sportpark, a venue with a seating capacity for 2,000 spectators. This marks a significant change from previous Majors, where spectators were not allowed during the early matches. For the Budapest Major, StarLadder will welcome fans to attend the first three stages of the competition.
“Unlike previous Majors, where spectators weren’t in attendance for the opening matches, we’re excited to open the doors for fans who want to witness the action across the first three stages,” said StarLadder representatives in a statement.
The playoff matches will move to the MVM Dome, an impressive 20,000-seat venue, where the tournament’s champion will be crowned. This marks a return to the spotlight for StarLadder, which has not hosted a Counter-Strike Major since 2019, when it organized the event in Berlin, Germany.

After a challenging few years impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and the ongoing war in Ukraine, the Ukrainian tournament organizer has been slowly returning to the global esports scene. The Budapest Major will be the first CS:GO Major for StarLadder in over five years, signaling a major comeback for the company.
"The COVID-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine halted much of our operations, but we’re excited to be returning with a major event like this," said StarLadder’s management team. "We are also planning to host four StarSeries tournaments in 2025 and 2026, marking our full return to the competitive esports scene."
In addition to the StarLadder Budapest Major, the company recently announced the cancellation of the first StarSeries event of 2025, which was originally scheduled after the Major. This scheduling conflict resulted in the BLAST.tv Austin Major starting two days after the planned StarSeries event.
