Twitch has issued an apology following the unintended activation of streamers' cameras, including those of Vtubers, due to its new "Drop Ins" feature. Launched on August 19, Drop Ins was designed to facilitate collaborations by allowing streamers to send requests to join each other's channels. The feature enables streamers to see when those on their

Followed Channels list are available and to send private notifications to request a collaboration, which can be accepted to start streaming together with integrated audio and video through OBS or similar software.

However, the feature was activated by default for all users, lacking a full opt-out option. This default setting led to significant backlash from prominent streamers who voiced concerns over potential harassment and unwanted botting. Twitch, the Amazon-owned streaming platform, acknowledged the issues and is working on solutions to address the concerns raised by its community.
